The 10 Best Magic Cards Ever Printed

The 10 Best Magic Cards Ever Printed

These are the most powerful and broken MTG cards I could find. All of them are restricted or banned in some way… they are, in fact, the best cards out there.

As an avid MTG player, I have seen many cards used during a game… These following 10 cards are quite possibly the strongest individual cards I have found. Don’t get too excited if you have more than one of them, they are ALL restricted in the Vintage (type 1) format. Well, go ahead and get a little excited, you are the owner of a gem. This list could go on forever, but I am going to pay particular mind to some of the more broken artifact combos.

Without further adieu…

the top 10 countdown!

#10

Necropotence

Accelerating the game in your favor is the best way to gain an advantage in this game. while this card appears to have a drawback, when you think about it, it’s totally worth it! It allows you to beef your hand up each turn, giving you a massive amount of options. This card was the center of many tournament decks at one point, and is still regarded as one of the best cards in the game when in its element.

#9

Yawgmoth’s Will

Unless you have the right deck for this guy, it is difficult to use being restricted in all formats. none the less, it is a tournament staple capable of getting you all the other cards on this list back and has been used to anhillilate opponents in vintage since it was printed.

#8

Demonic Tutor

Woa. This card is the best of the best tutors. Also the original tutor, it gave you the option to search your deck for anything (like the card missing from your combo or another card on this list) with no drawback. It only costs 2, giving you a chance to play that card as well!

#7

Channel

Off the top of my head I can think of a first turn win with this guy. Life is worthless if your opponent is dead! Why not mow yourself down to get a major advantage?

(Try, on your first turn; Drop a Mountain. drop a Black Lotus. Tap the Lotus for 3 green. cast “Healing Leaves” to gain 3 life. Use the remaining 2 Green to cast Channel and pay 20 life. Tap the mountain to Blaze through for 20 lethal damage… your opponent didn’t even get to take their turn!)

I think that cards like Fog, Counterspell, and Fireball are better than stuff like Channel and Necropotence. More useful and easier to get. However, the other stuff I pretty much agree with

good call.
theyre overlooked, versitile and game changing. I do agree we take them for granted.

Fork is not even close to the power level of the rest of these cards. It is also not Vintage restricted, which may be due to red being such a weak color. The list isn’t too bad over all otherwise.

The main problem is you somehow forgot Yawgmoth’s Will. It’s not a card you would commonly see, so you may not be aware of it. Will is the most broken card in Magic and the defining card of the Vintage format.

Thank you! you are absolutly correct!

thanks for the feedback!

Agree with anon.

You purportedly mostly play Vintage, yet you didn’t even mention Yawgwin.

the best are black lotus, yawmoths will, and time walk
i think time walk the best, u can easy kill a player using tht card

Y will is by far the best card ever printed. It allows you to replay any other effect that was considerd too good to run more than 1 of, and it lets you set up brokin combos. Also, even in aggro it would let you replay a bunch of little beaters.

anon learn to read hes got it up there u DA

fartknocker>@, you’re stupid. When anon posted his comment, Yawgmoths Will wasn’t on the list, and when mike1229 was reminded of the card, he promptly updated his list. Also, I have seen Black Lotus sell for $10,000, but it was in perfect condition and someone really wanted it. I don’t know about you all, but if I got my hands on a Black Lotus, I would sell it imediatly. Magic is fun and all, but the price range on that sucker is $50-$10,000. That is a lot of money for a thin cardboard slip. That is just my opinion though, and if you really want to throw away that much money for a Magic card, be my guest. Just be weary of fakes, which are quite prevelent in Magic card selling websites.

actually i inteded to see some other cards? ever heard of soulscour? look it up it beats the crap out of all these

@ Channel first turn win:
(Try, on your first turn; Drop a Mountain. drop a Black Lotus. Tap the Lotus for 3 green. cast “Healing Leaves” to gain 3 life. Use the remaining 2 Green to cast Channel and pay 20 life. Tap the mountain to Blaze through for 20 lethal damage… your opponent didn’t even get to take their turn!)

You don’t even need the “Healing Leaves”
Drop a Mountain and Black Lotus. Tap the Lotus for 3 green. Use 2 green to cast Channel and pay 19 life, bringing your mana pool to 1 red (untapped mountain), 1 green and 19 colorless (21 in total). Tap mountain to Balze trough for 20 lethal damage. Your at 1 health, but your opponent is dead – and he/she didn’t even get a turn!

embarrasedforallofyou, posted this comment on Jun 15th, 2010

so that list is questionable, right off the bat, you dont need to gain 3 life to channel fireball as you use 2 green to channel pay 19 life for 19 mana, extra green = 20 mountain he fireball for win, ifyou makethat kind of mistake how can i trust any of your other iseas

also, @minus, soulscour? are you serious? scrub

add leyline of anticipation in that one hit kill combo that way even if your opponet goes first you win before your first turn lol just saying

luciens, posted this comment on Jun 5th, 2011

I think, that is many cards better. For example: Asceticism, Overwhelming stampede, …
They are not so expensive.

I think Contract From Below is the strongest card ever printed. Of course, it’s banned in all formats.

I would disagree with Lotus as number one. There are times when its useless. Ancestral Recall meanwhile, is useful all the time. I say that should be No. 1.

Also Yawgmoth’s Bargain is kind of missing.
